Seamus McAleavey

Seamus has been the Chief Executive of NICVA since 1998. He has key responsibility for engagement with Government Ministers and their departments on policy issues that interest voluntary and community organisations.

Seamus has been involved on a number of formative initiatives like the Taskforce on Active Citizenship 2007 established by then Taoiseach Bertie Ahearn and the Carnegie Commission of Inquiry into Civil Society in the UK and Ireland which reported in 2010. He was also a member of the Economic Development Forum that advised Ministers on the economy in Northern Ireland. He is currently a Board member of UCIT (Ulster Community Investment Trust) and Sector Matters two social enterprise organisations. Seamus is married with one daughter and lives in Newry, Co Down.

He is an alumnus of the Federal Executive Institute at Charlottesville, Virginia having completed the Leadership for a Democratic Society program in 2008.
