Collaboration and Partnership Support – an End and a Beginning

10 Apr 2017     Last updated: 14 Aug 2019

Collaboration support for the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland enters a new phase this week – with an end and a beginning.

An end …

CollaborationNI is coming to an end. Funded by the Building Change Trust for five years the programme has fully supported over a thousand organisations and over 150 separate collaborations since it began work in March 2011.

CollaborationNI was itself a partnership between NICVA, CO3 and Stellar Leadership - and supported organisations from almost every sub-sector of the voluntary and community sector to collaborate successfully by:

  • Building strategic alliances;
  • Developing effective consortia; and
  • Supporting mergers and charity restructuring.

Through effective partnership working, voluntary and community organisations have improved services to beneficiaries, become better able to influence policy and, most importantly in this environment, have become more sustainable.

And a beginning …

Collaboration and merger support will still be available for voluntary and community and social enterprise organisations in need of help and advice.

Andrew Talbot, Legal Adviser with CollaborationNI since 2011, is leaving NICVA this week to provide a collaboration support service to the sector independently.

Anyone wishing to have an exploratory conversation in confidence with Andrew about a possible alliance, consortium or merger, should contact: [email protected].
