Arthritis Care is the UK’s largest charity working with and for all people who have arthritis.

The pain of arthritis is chronic, long-term and is not just limited to the elderly or frail, young people and those of working age are also affected.  Living every day in severe pain can make people with the condition feel depressed and exhausted.  Simple daily tasks that others take for granted can become extremely difficult and time-consuming.  Arthritis is the largest single cause of physical disability and days off work through illness.

It is not clear what causes arthritis and there is no cure at present. Arthritis Care NI helps people of all ages to manage their condition and get on with their lives.

Arthritis Care NI provides:

Training – personal development and self-management courses to help people manage their arthritis and to live positively with their condition.  To see Arthritis Care's current training calendar please click here.

Mentoring/Befriending – for isolated older people over 60 years of age

Helplines –a free phone telephone and email support service. Helpline: 0808 800 4050

Family & Youth Work Service - activity and personal development weekends for young people as well as family support

Campaigning – campaign for greater awareness of the needs of everyone with arthritis, improved services and an end to discrimination

Support Groups –  a network of 21 branches/support groups providing assistance to people living with arthritis

Publications – free information booklets on a broad range of subjects

Get Involved

Arthritis Care NI couldn’t provide their vital services without the people who support them.  Get involved in your local area, sign up for one of their events or organise your own.  Whether it’s a coffee morning or fancy dress party, every penny you raise will help Arthritis Care NI make a difference to the lives of people living with arthritis in Northern Ireland.

If you would like to avail of any of their services, get involved in fundraising, or you would be interested in volunteering for the organisation please contact Arthritis Care NI on 028 9078 2940, email [email protected] or visit www.arthritiscare.org.uk.
