We are delighted that Patrick Anderson, Training and Education Officer with AWARE has been awarded his well deserved ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management. Well done Patrick!

Since March 2018 76 people have registered on and are completing the NICVA online ILM courses through our partnership with Global Management Academy. These students are completing a range of qualifications including: ILM level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, ILM level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring and ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management. NICVA offers learners support with assignments and opportunities to meet up, discuss their learning and share best practice.

Patrick was part of the first cohort of online learners in March 2018, when we launched the new range of ILM qualifications. He had 2 months access to the comprehensive online materials and then completed 2 assignments, one for each unit. His assignments were passed by the assessor and then successfully internally and externally verified.

Now that he has been awarded his certificate after all his hard work, we asked Patrick about his experience on the online course:

I found the ILM Level 3 useful for my role within a Mental Health Charity, in which I work in education, managing a team of associate trainers. I found the study challenging to fit into my schedule, but each time I studied a new module I took away a practical skill that I could practise and use to make me a better manager, and I was able to see the benefit straight away.

I personally found the distance learning a challenge, as I learn best when I am being taught face-to face and I can ask questions and clarify meanings or methods. However I had a fantastic mentor in Roisin Kelly, who was always at hand to help me clarify any confusion I may have had and answer any questions and keep me on track.
