Infertility Network UK provides information, support and advice to all those struggling to conceive. Sharon Davidson is the Regional Organiser for Northern Ireland.

We chatted to Sharon to find out about their work and how they have benefited from being a NICVA member.

"1 in 6 couples in NI suffer the effects of infertility and Infertility Network provides support and information to them through support groups, events, our website and Helpline.  In N. Ireland we also lobby and campaign for greater access to NHS fertility treatment through an All Party Group on Infertility. The organisation in NI is part of the UK wide organisation and has 3 part-time employees working from home.

Infertility Network have been a NICVA member for 11 years.  We first came in contact with NICVA through a computer equipment grants scheme and have been working with NICVA ever since. We benefit from the information that is sent to us through the members’ bulletin and enews, in particular the sections on funding and training are very useful. We are involved in lobbying and campaigning and have been involved in many policy events. It is great to get together with organisations facing the same challenges and have the opportunity to work together and network.

We have used the conference facilities for interviews and training and find the rates very competitive. We have attended training provided by NICVA and found it to be high quality. NICVA’s HR manager has advised us about recruitment and we used the CommunityNI website to advertise one of our jobs. It was for a 12 hour a week, temporary post and we were overwhelmed when we got 30 applications from a wide range of people and now have a very good person in post.

NICVA is always there to provide support and guidance - from the initial contact when the charity was established.  We also got help with getting office  equipment and conference facilities through a grant suggested by NICVA.  We will continue to use the NICVA facilities, attend training and get HR advice."
