Mental Health Policy Forum Meeting - Maternal Mental Health

The Mental Health Policy Forum met on 9th September to discuss maternal mental health and the 'Everyone's Business' campaign.

The meeting was chaired by Iris Elliott, Head of Public Affairs and Policy at NIAMH who updated the group on the recently closed consultation on Mental Capacity Legislation.

Shona Hamilton presented to the Forum on her experience as a Consultant Midwife with NHSCT/QUB and the 'Everyone's Business' campaign. This was followed by a presentation from Jenny Thompson on her lived experience of post natal depression and the Living Life to the Full programme she undertook with Aware Defeat Depression, who co-chair the Mental Health Policy Forum.

A period of questions, answers and discussions followed during which the group made a number of connections and suggestions for potential further work on this topic.

More information on 'Everyone's Business' is available here. The presentations from the meeting and links to handouts which were available at the minute are below.

The Forum plans to meet again in December with an agenda circulated ahead of the meeting.
