NICVA meets with new Finance Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir

Peter McBride, CEO NIAMH; Minister of Finance; Seamus McAleavey, Chief Executive NICVA

NICVA was delighted to help organise a visit by Finance Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir to the Inspire housing community.

The Minister spent some time meeting with residents who talked to him about how Inspire staff had helped them move from Muckamore Abbey Hospital into the community.  The Minister had a guided tour of some of the resident’s homes and talked to staff about the tailored packages of support they provide to each resident.

Minister Ó Muilleoir then met with NICVA CEO Seamus McAleavey, Head of Public Affairs Lisa McElherron, Chairperson Marie Cavanagh and Vice Chair Peter McBride to receive a briefing on key issues important to his department and to the sector.  The conversation ranged from issues such as rates review and procurement to open data and innovation.

Speaking after the meeting Seamus McAleavey said “it was great to get a meeting so early with the new Finance Minister and place the sector's issues on his agenda.  Peters Hill was a perfect venue for our meeting as it showcases how investment in the voluntary and community sector can deliver better outcomes for people and save government money. It was a very positive afternoon and we are looking forward to working with the Minister in the future.”
