Tenant Participation Strategy Consultation Launched

As part of its Social Housing Reform Programme the Department for Social Development has launched a consultation on a new Tenant Participation Strategy for Northern Ireland 2015-2020.

This strategy explores how social landlords and tenants can work together to improve services and also considers what further initiatives could be introduced to expand the rights of tenants through tenant empowerment.  The document is developed in line with the Department’s vision of ‘Helping people change their lives for the better’.

The consultation:

  • examines how tenants can become more involved and can participate in shaping and reviewing the services they receive;
  • considers how landlords should develop a range of methods to promote, encourage and support tenants to participate meaningfully at all levels; and
  • explores the role the Department for Social Development can have to support tenant participation and empowerment.
