DOJ Committee question proposed cuts to voluntary and community organisations

Officials from the Department of Justice presented their proposed spending plans to the DOJ Committee in the Assembly at their meeting on Thursday.  UUP MLA Tom Elliot noticed that the Youth Justice Agency proposed significant cuts to external programmes delivered by voluntary and community organisations and asked for more detail. He was told in reply that the Agency has "tried to protect, as much as possible, their internal core functions." Mr Elliot agreed that the voluntary and community sector knows it can't be immune from cuts but that it looked like most of the proposed cuts would fall to the sector. The officials reminded the Committee that these were proposed spending plans and nothing was finalised and they agreed to provide the Committee with more details.  You can see the discussion by following the link. The part on the sector is at about 51:26. But the whole session is worth watching if you have the time.
