Larne Community Development Project was formed in February 1997 by a group of people from Larne Borough who were involved in cross community work .
With the concept of promoting the ethos of Community Development in an area of low community infrastructure LCDP were successful in applying for a grant to employ a Community Development Officer and part time administration officer to work with local groups and help them to develop. The organisation is based in the Ledcom Industrial estate and provides a range of information and assistance to local community/voluntary groups within the Larne Borough.

Since it was formed LCDP has provided assistance and support to approximately 120 groups including Children’ Groups, Young people, Women, Disabled, Unemployed, Cultural, Sports and Single Identity groups.
The organisation has been instrumental in attracting funding in excess of £100,000 through a range of sources for local charitable organisations.
LCDP also have worked with various partners over years and more recently were the first organisation to receive three years funding of £10,000 from the Community and Development Health Network to run a series of information sessions on health related issues for local people in Larne in partnership with our local community pharmacist.

The Vital Links project is part-financed by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (PEACE III) managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. The Special EU Programmes Body is the Managing Authority for the European Union's PEACE III Programme.
