East Belfast Community Capacity and Leadership Programme

NICVA partners with Interaction Institute, TIDES training and Youth Action to deliver the East Belfast Community Capacity & Leadership Programme, managed by the East Belfast Community Development Agency.

The East Belfast Community Capacity & Leadership Programme (EBCCLP) completed in April 2019. You can read about the programme's impact here.

This programme, funded by the Northern Ireland Executive’s Social Investment Fund as part of the Delivering Social Change programme, aims to work with community groups and individuals in East Belfast to improve their capacity and leadership. It will help groups identify solutions to address the challenges and issues that they face in their local communities. The programme aims to improve leadership skills and confidence and provide the chance to work together and network with others.

NICVA was delighted to complete delivery of the East Belfast Community Capacity and Leadership Programme on 30 April 2019 with targets exceeded and excellent feedback from the East Belfast groups and organisations who took part.

NICVA is pleased to be the lead partner delivering the East Belfast Community Capacity & Leadership Programme.

Who is it for?

The programme is for groups and people involved in groups in East Belfast in the following areas:

  • The Mount 1
  • The Mount 2
  • Ballymacarrett 1
  • Ballymacarrett 2
  • Ballymacarrett 3
  • Sydenham 1
  • Sydenham 3
  • Island 1
  • Belmont 3
  • Bloomfield 1
  • Cregagh

The programme will be delivered between September 2017 and April 2019 and we hope to work with as many groups as we can in this time responding to their development needs and providing the support they need.

What does it include?

Training calendar – there will be a training calendar offering a range of courses from half day sessions to three-day courses, some of these will be accredited. You can book online for this training.

Bespoke training – we arrange to come to groups - staff, volunteers and/or committee members - and deliver the training of their choice at a time that suits them best. This can also be delivered for clusters of groups and individuals to suit their needs.

One to one support –  individual support for leaders and managers on specific issues.

Facilitating sessions/meetings – dedicated facilitator to facilitate a discussion or help groups talk through an issue or plan together.

Roundtable workshops – large events where groups come together around a relevant theme to discuss practice, provide peer support and network.

Governance reviews – supporting the group to complete the governance health check and writing a report based on a review of the governance, making recommendations and providing suggestions for improvements.
