This two-day programme aims to equip managers of volunteers with the tools and skills to do their jobs more effectively. It will include how to develop your volunteering policy and motivate your volunteers. This course is also relevant to those who are responsible for the Volunteering Policy and it's implementation.

The training sessions are delivered in an participative style by trainers who are experts in their field. There will be group activities, scenarios and time for reflection. The programme has been specifically designed in partnership with Volunteer Now for organisations in the voluntary and community sector.

Course content:

24 January 2018 Day one - Developing a volunteering policy

  • information you need to develop the policy
  • value of volunteers
  • how to develop a policy
  • risk management considerations

30 January 2018 Day two – Manage the motivation of volunteers

  • the importance of role descriptions for volunteers
  • effective communication with volunteers
  • tips on how to keep your volunteers motivated

This training is aimed at people that manage volunteers and contribute to or are responsible for the volunteering policy.

Assessment - As this is an accredited course there is an assignment to complete. This is to show evidence of reflective practice and how you have applied your learning into your organisation. As it is level 5 is at a strategic level and requires you to critique and analyse your practice and organisational policy against best practice. You will be given a month to complete your assignment.
