This MediaConnect session will introduce programme particpants to various types of media and let them them hear, first hand, what makes a decent story.

To explain we have arranged three brilliant speakers from a range of media backgrounds - including broadcast, community radio and community television. They are:

  • Sarah Travers, formerly of UTV and now with Bespoke Comms will talk about building and managing relationships with the broadcast media. She will also touch on diversity on the airwaves, giving attendees the key takeaways from the #BeSeenBeHeard programme that matched female experts with news and current affairs programmes.
  • Mike Gaston from Belfast’s 89 FM, speaking on the power of Community Radio to get your voice heard, how to approach community radio and how to make your pitch interesting
  • David Hyndman, from NVTV, Belfast's community televison station will give a bit of background to NVTV,  the approach to adopt when pitching to or working with community television and how to make a story interesting for your audience
