This event will provide an opportunity for ethnic minority sector organisations working with EU and non-EU nationals to learn about the latest developments in the Brexit process, their implications for ethnic minority and non-UK/Irish citizens resident in NI, and to share their questions, concerns and support needs.

This is the latest in a series of Brexit roundtable events which NICVA has been organising to inform voluntary/community sector organisations about different aspects of Brexit and hear your concerns so that we can reflect these in our engagements with government and others.

10:45am: Welcome, introductions and background on NICVA and its work on Brexit (Geoff Nuttall, Head of Policy and  Public Affairs, NICVA)

10:55amThe wider Brexit process & timetable – Where are we now?  (Professor David Phinnemore, QUB)

11:10am: Information on settled status for non-UK/Irish citizens living in NI and support/advice available (Law Centre Networks)

11:30am: Smoke and mirrors – Brexit reflections and concerns from ethnic minority communities and BME sector (Ola Sobieraj, Stronger Together Network Support Worker)

11:45am: Q&A

12:15pm:  20-minute brainstorming session: 3 Questions

1 – Key Brexit concerns

2 – Key Brexit support needs and proposed actions

3 – Other support which NICVA could provide 

12:45pm: Short feedback

12:55pm: Next steps for NICVA and concluding remarks
