Handling Redundancy
NICVA is hosting a Handling Redundancy Seminar on 1 December 2010, to help organisations who may have to deal with redundancies.
Eilis Murray of the Labour Relations Agency will be facilitating the 2 hour seminar.
The session is aimed at Staff, Managers and Senior Mangers who are responsible for Human Resources and may have to face or deal with a potential redundancy situation.
The seminar will cover best practice approach to handling a dismissal due to a redundancy or ending of a fixed term contract.
It will also focus on:
- the legal definition of redundancy
- alternative strategies to avoid redundancies
- varying a contract of employment
- redundancy policies and procedures
- alternative work and trial periods
- payments due
- insolvency
- counselling or other assistance
Participants will have an opportunity to consider the potential risks in a redundancy situation and consider if their own organisational policies and practices in are within the context of fair dismissal.
