Making policy work for you

This session will enable you to understand where policy comes from and the policy cycle – from idea through to implementation. We will examine good policy making versus bad and the unique context of policy making under devolved powers. The overall aim of this session is to help you understand where government policy comes from, how it affects our sector and how you can try to influence it.

Successful lobbying and campaigning

How can we affect policy? This session will examine successful and unsuccessful campaigns and will have guest speakers looking at how they have campaigned for change.

This session will help you understand the key ingredients in devising a campaign on the issues that matter to you.

Getting here and Parking

NICVA has a number of free parking spaces available for those attending events. Unfortunately these can't be reserved and are available on a first come basis. NICVA's spaces are clearly marked and we would ask that visitors only use spaces allocated to NICVA when attending an event.

Parking is also available on Duncairn Gardens and surrounding areas within close walking distance. NICVA is also a short walk from Yorkgate Train Station and you can easily catch a bus from the city centre (no 1D) direct to Duncairn Gardens, or (no 61 and 64) to Cityside Centre (a few minutes walk).
