Managing Absence and Promoting Equality
One of a series of employment equality seminars delivered in partnership with the Equality Commission.

The seminars are aimed at assisting voluntary sector employers to meet their responsibilities under employment equality legislation.
All seminars are free of charge and will be hosted by NICVA in Duncairn Gardens, Belfast. There was a high level of interest in the 2009 programme so early booking is advised.
Managing Absence and Promoting Equality on 18 March is for senior managers and HR professionals seeking to benchmark and review their organisation’s current absence management procedures against best practice indicators aimed at promoting equality of opportunity.
Learning Objectives: By the end of the seminar participants should have had an opportunity to have considered:
- The main factors that lead to high levels of employee absence and the practices that can help to reduce it.
- An implementation plan outlining the key steps to take when seeking to develop a fair and effective absence management policy.
- Absence management equality indicators outlined in Chapter 17 of the Unified Guide to Promoting Equality of Opportunity in Employment.
- Relevant equality related tribunal decisions.
