NB The second day of this course will take place on 29 November 2011 from 10.00am to 4.00pm at NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast BT15 2GB.

This course provides key learning on the principles of fundraising, developing a fundraising strategy and training on practical fundraising methods and techniques in the fields of grants, community fundraising and trading goods and services.

The course is aimed at those who are new to fundraising or want a good general refresher course in how to fundraise. It is also useful for those who have worked in fundraising for years but have no form of generally recognised qualification. The course welcomes volunteers, part-time or full-time fundraisers or those who do fundraising as part of their job. It may also be very beneficial to charity trustees in the area of sustaining income to their organisation.

The session will:

  • Define the key principles of fundraising
  • Identify key elements of a fundraising strategy
  • Identify a broad range of fundraising methods and techniques

The session includes training on making a pitch, understanding the donors' perspectives, the key elements of a fundraising strategy, fundraising from grant-makers (including voluntary, private and statutory sources), community fundraising (including personal, social/recreational and media techniques), trading goods and services, contracting and procurement, and investment fundraising.

Cancellation fee

If you wish to cancel your place at this event you must inform at roisin [dot] kelly [at] nicva [dot] org by email five working days in advance of the event date. If you inform us less than five working days or not at all and do not attend you will be invoiced for the full cost of the event.

Getting here and Parking

NICVA has a number of free parking spaces available for those attending events. Unfortunately these can't be reserved and are available on a first come basis. NICVA's spaces are clearly marked and we would ask that visitors only use spaces allocated to NICVA when attending an event.

Parking is also available on Duncairn Gardens and surrounding areas within close walking distance. NICVA is also a short walk from Yorkgate Train Station and you can easily catch a bus from the city centre (no 1D) direct to Duncairn Gardens, or (no 61 and 64) to Cityside Centre (a few minutes walk).
