Policy forum - Volunteering
Volunteer Now is hosting the next volunteering policy forum on 26 September 2011. The forum will offer an opportunity to engage with representatives from DSD on various issues including volunteering and benefit claimants, and the volunteering strategy.
NICVA,
61 Duncairn Gardens,
Belfast,
BT15 2GB
The Volunteering Policy Forum focuses on issues which are relevant to volunteering. The overall aim of the forum is to disseminate policy information, facilitate policy development and influence decision making. Membership of the forum is free and is open to any organisation or individual with an interest in volunteering issues.
At the next meeting representatives from the Voluntary and Community Unit of the Department for Social Development (DSD) will give a presentation on the new volunteering and social security benefits leaflet. They are also interested in hearing your experiences of involving benefit claimants as volunteers. The forum will also offer an opportunity to get an update on the volunteering strategy for Northern Ireland which has now been passed by the Executive.
When requesting a booking, please include specific areas of volunteering and benefits that you would like the speakers to cover (individual cases will not be discussed). Please add any questions to the comments section in the online 'request a booking' form above.

Getting here and Parking
NICVA has a number of free parking spaces available for those attending events. Unfortunately these can't be reserved and are available on a first come basis. NICVA's spaces are clearly marked and we would ask that visitors only use spaces allocated to NICVA when attending an event.
Parking is also available on Duncairn Gardens and surrounding areas within close walking distance. NICVA is also a short walk from Yorkgate Train Station and you can easily catch a bus from the city centre (no 1D) direct to Duncairn Gardens, or (no 61 and 64) to Cityside Centre (a few minutes walk).
The Vital Links project is part-financed by the European Union's European Regional Development Fund through the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation (PEACE III) managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. The Special EU Programmes Body is the Managing Authority for the European Union's PEACE III Programme.
