What is Train the Trainers?

It is an ILM endorsed three day course that helps trainers to develop their training skills. Some participants are new to training, others have a number of years experience.

The aim of the course is to help anyone involved in training to see ways in which they could become better, more effective trainers.

Course Overview

  • Icebreakers and group activities
  • Creating SMART objectives that will ensure learners needs are met
  • How to plan and design training
  • Recognising learning styles of trainees and tutors
  • How to adapt training to meet ALL of these styles
  • How to deal with challenging behaviours.
  • How to ensure training is interactive and participative - and not simply a presentation.

Evaluating training

Train the trainers ensures that a good training session is not a presentation.  The programme is interactive, will build confidence, shares best practice and makes sure there is plenty of opportunity to discuss and practice how to handle a range of training challenges.

Third day of course:

Trainees, as part of the ILM accreditation system, will deliver a 30 minute training session to their peers.  After this, one to one feedback can be provided and trainees will be able to keep a copy of their sessionon video for self reflection (additional fee £30).

ILM Endorsed

NICVA's Train the Trainer course is endorsed by the Institute of leadership and Management. The ILM (www.i-l-m.com) is the leading UK approving organisation for management and leadership training, and is part of the City and Guilds Group.

Trainees on this course receive an ILM endorsed certificate and a one year studying membership of ILM.

Parking is also available on Duncairn Gardens and surrounding areas within close walking distance. NICVA is also a short walk from Yorkgate Train Station and you can easily catch a bus from the city centre (no 1D) direct to Duncairn Gardens, or (no 61 and 64) to Cityside Centre (a few minutes walk).
