This workshop on 30 April 2008 will assist voluntary sector employers seeking to develop a strategy for the promotion of equality in the workplace for people living with a disability.

Participants will discover:

  • The responsibilities placed on employers under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 – including recent changes brought about by the Disability Discrimination (NI) Order 2006.
  • Best practice as outlined in the Disability Statutory Code of Practice – Employment and Occupation in recruitment and selection, managing reasonable adjustment requests, implementing anti-discriminatory policies, monitoring and review.
  • The main steps to consider when developing a disability employment strategy.
