This workshop at NICVA on 6 December 2007 aims to assist voluntary sector employers and selection panel members to meet recommended best practice in relation to the promotion of equality of opportunity when recruiting staff.

Participants will:

  • Gain an awareness of key elements of the anti-discrimination legislation relating to recruitment and selection methods
  • Consider recommended best practice in relation to the following aspects of the recruitment process:
  • Job Criteria and Job Descriptions
  • Advertising and Information to Applicants
  • Structured Application Forms
  • Short-listing, Interviewing and Selection Testing
  • References and Other Checks
  • Discuss issues specific to individual equality grounds.
