As a direct response to your requests for practical information and advice, NICVA has organised another Members’ Information Day on 29 April 2008 from 10.00am to 4.15pm. This time round participants will gain confidence in the areas of governance that every organisation, large or small, should be thinking about.

The day begins with What’s on the horizon?, a presentation on the changes in charity law and other policy updates, followed by a series of short presentations including What’s exciting about strategic planning?; An introduction to risk management; Understanding what to put into your staff handbook; and Finance issues.

The afternoon comprises two sets of four in depth workshops, from which you can select one from each block.

Session 1 - Select one from:

  • Human Resources – understanding discrimination
  • A mine of useful information? – Striking gold on the internet
  • Bringing the strategic planning template to life
  • Risk assessment - a practical session

Session 2 – Select one from:

  • Budgeting
  • How not to write … annual reports
  • Running a company
  • Tips for building a stronger committee
