In Northern Ireland charitable status (for tax purposes) is granted by HM Revenue and Customs.

You can make an application by forwarding a copy of your governing document and a description of your group's interests and activities - known as a summary of activities - to HM Revenue and Customs at: Inland Revenue, FICO (Charity Title), St John's House, Merton Road, Bootle, Merseyside L69 9BB.

NICVA offer a free consultancy service to help you coordinate your charitable application, whether you are a long running community group or a small group of people who are seeking to become established.
