First Trust Bank won the 2004 Link Award after being nominated by ChildLine NI for the massive support the bank gave to the children's charity.

"First Trust staff were slightly surprised, but totally delighted to win the Link Award for our partnership with ChildLine NI last year.

"On the night, I remember a few colleagues being very emotional about it. The next morning - after I had emailed the good news to all our branches and departments - I wasn't prepared for the avalanche of feedback that came in from colleagues all over Northern Ireland, and from Dublin and London too.

"Everyone appreciated the good news, and the recognition. I'm sure people really did take this award to heart, and remembered the things they had personally done to support our charity work.

"Link certainly gave us a corporate feel good factor, and I'm confident it encouraged people to do even more to support our charity partners.

"A year later, we're delighted to be nominated for a Link Award again, and we have more interest than ever in Link, which I'm sure is driven by last year's success".

First Trust sponsored the Award for Schools and Colleges at the 2005 Link Awards, to recognise exceptional commitment to a voluntary and community organisation on behalf of a school or college.
