Focus on Family is an organisation providing a number of services for local families such as a crèche facility for babies and toddlers, parenting and nurturing programmes, complementary therapies, dealing with domestic violence, skills based courses and much more.
The organisation also offers free childcare places for anyone attending daytime courses so all the family can benefit from the service on offer.
They have also recently received funding from Big Lottery Fund - Reaching Communities NI to deliver the range of services, programmes and activities on offer and provide cross community events to disadvantaged individuals living in Ballysally and the Coleraine area.
The aim of this is to address emotional literacy, promote tolerance and improve the health and wellbeing of individuals through improved skill, confidence and esteem.
Training
On Friday 28 November, Roisin Kelly from NICVA carried out team building training with 20 members of Focus on Family at the Royal Court Hotel in Portrush. In addition to looking at the roles people play in teams and how this can help them look at their strengths and weaknesses, participants were given a task to complete in groups and had to present the results at the end. Participants left feeling more aware of their role within the team and how the team can work more productively in the future.
