Judith Thompson, NI Manager for Skills for Justice, explains to NICVA the role of Skills for Justice in raising the skills agenda in Northern Ireland.
In this recent interview, as part of the series of highlighting the work of Sector Skills Councils, Judith states that “When people talk about the justice sector they think about the big statutory organisations like policing, probation, courts, prisons…. In fact if we look at the people who work in the sector, the second largest grouping working in the justice sector work for the voluntary and community sector”
Skills for Justice NI work with victims, survivors, witnesses of crime and “community safety also depend heavily on the voluntary and community sector”, adds Judith.
Recently, Judith was involved in research carried out to gain a greater understanding of the skills need within the voluntary/community sector. Judith was the lead for the Sector Skills Council groupings and the main point of contact with the funder (DEL).
