Response to DTI Company Law Reform white paper.
NICVA response to the DTI Company Law Reform white paper and the future responsibility for companies legislation that applies to Northern Ireland.
NICVA welcomes the proposals to modernise the legislative framework, introduce the Community Interest Company (CIC) and make Company Law more flexible and accessible to users.
We also welcome government's intention to ensure that the key operational provisions for companies are set out clearly and logically in one place, as well as the proposal for future company law to be made on a UK wide basis which would extend to NI without the need for future separate legislation.
The proposed harmonisation of NI and GB company registries is also welcome, as is the commitment for a registrar to remain in NI to provide a local interface for companies.
