NICVA's response to CEA's Proposals for Curriculum and Assessment at Key Stage 3.

This six page response is based on the contributions of NICVA's members to a six month consultation for NICVA's Policy Manifesto .

Summary: NICVA welcomes the proposed managed and gradual introduction of the new curriculum and learning methods as well as the support and guidance for teachers and schools. We support the majority of curriculum proposals, but do not share CEA's optimism that change will eventually eliminate the need for selection. However, NICVA would like to support CEA in implementing a vision which supports continuous improvement of achievement and also closes the gap of equality of opportunity for all students.
