Response to the consultation on a Lay Magistracy

NICVA's response to the Court Service public consultation exercise on the establishment of the Lay Magistracy in Northern Ireland.

The Review of the Criminal Justice System in Northern Ireland recommended that a new judicial office of Lay Magistrate should be created to encourage greater lay involvement in the courts and make the system more responsive to community concerns.

This is NICVA’s response to the Public Consultation on the eligibility policy.
