What does the session involve?
The session is fully participative using a mixture of input, discussions and question and answer sessions with policy experts. The introduction to the day will focus on the current policy climate. A session on Policy Development in Government will be facilitated on each occasion by a member of staff from the public sector with experience of developing policy. There will also be input from experienced policy workers in the voluntary and community sector about what works and what doesn't work.

What will I learn?
By the end of the session you will be able to:
- Describe where policy comes from.
- Understand how government develops policy.
- Outline the key skills necessary to respond to policy.
- Critically examine the policy function of your organisation.
- Highlight examples of good practice in policy development and
responding to policy.

Who should attend?
The training is aimed all at voluntary and community organisations. You should register to attend if your organisation has a policy role and you want
to know how to do this more effectively, or if you have a limited policy capacity and want to find out about the policy development process with a view to getting more involved.

All courses run from 10.30am until 3.30pm, are free of charge and include lunch and all training materials.
The limit for each day is 20 participants.
