What does the session involve?
Each interactive session will include presentations, group discussions, workshops and advice from an experienced lobbyist or politician.
Participants will be provided with information, detailed practical guidance and a range of techniques to help influence decision-making. They will gain an understanding of government structures ranging from local government to Stormont and Westminster, useful tips on who to lobby; insights into
tools including parliamentary questions (PQs); and the opportunity to work on lobbying strategies and question an experienced lobbyist or politician.
What will I learn?
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- Appreciate that it's not enough to be right -- you need to be powerful too.
- Understand what lobbying is and why we should lobby.
- Understand government structures and identify contacts at different levels.
- Appreciate the connections between lobbying and communications.
- Identify the key skills necessary to undertake lobbying at different levels.
- Understand the wide range of tools and techniques involved in lobbying.
- Explore the potential for lobbying in your organisation.
Who should attend?
The content is designed to appeal to people who are involved in strategy development, public affairs, communications and campaigning. The daylong
