The Department for Social Development (DSD) published the draft legislation for charities in Northern Ireland on 17 July 2006. The draft reflects last year’s consultation on the Review of Charities Administration in NI which received a positive response from the sector. It outlined the key proposals such as the establishment of a Charity Commission for NI, a Register of Charities, a framework for regulation and a new definition of charity.
NICVA will hold this seminar in conjunction with DSD to discuss the practical implications of the draft, as well as giving participants the opportunity to put questions directly to those who drafted the legislation.
Copies of the
Draft Charities (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 can be downloaded from the DSD website.
Read NICVA’s
Briefing Paper on the consultation document.
The consultation period closes on 13 October 2006.
Registration with tea and coffee is at 9.45am and the seminar will finish with lunch.
