NICVA briefing paper

NICVA has released a briefing paper to inform the debate on the consultation document ‘The Reform of the Water Sewerage Services in Northern Ireland’, published by the Department of Regional Development .

The briefing paper presents an overview of the Department’s rationale regarding the reform of funding and structure of water and sewerage services in Northern Ireland and sets out NICVA’s concerns regarding the impact of the proposed new changes on the mostdisadvantaged within society, as well as highlighting environmental concerns.

NICVA will submit a full response to the consultation before Friday 20 June 2003.

Public meetings:

A number of public meetings have been arranged by the Department to assist with determining the options on the reform of the Water Service:

Tuesday 29 April 2003: Tower Hotel, Derry
Wednesday 7 May 2003: Town Hall, Ballymena
Tuesday 13 May 2003: Grosvenor House, Belfast
Wednesday 14 May 2003: Civic Centre, Craigavon
w/c 2 June 2003, TBA: Enniskillen
