NICVA conference to explore our place in a new Europe.
On 1 May ten new countries will join the EU - Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
A major conference is being organised by NICVA on 4 May to mark this historic accession.
The conference is part of a city wide campaign — New Europe, New Faces — organised by Belfast City Council’s Development Department in partnership with the European Commission in Northern Ireland.
The conference aims to inform voluntary and community organisations on developments in the EU and how these will impact on the sector in Northern Ireland.
Speakers from across Europe will explore Northern Ireland’s place in the EU and workshops will focus on a number of key thematic policy issues such as peace-building, the social economy, anti-poverty and migration and asylum.
Special Guest speaker
Paul Gillespie, foreign policy editor and deputy editor of the Irish Times.
Who should attend?
This conference will be of interest to community and voluntary organisations, statutory sector organisations with an interest in the voluntary and community sector and individuals interested in European affairs. Places at the event will be strictly limited.
