NICVA briefing paper to assist voluntary and community organisations to make a response to the DETI consultation on Credit Unions and Industrial and Provident Societies.
On 17 May 2004, the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment (DETI) published a consultation paper setting out its proposals for the modernisation of Northern Ireland policy on Credit Unions and Industrial and Provident Societies.
These proposals are part of a wider framework proposed by DETI, to introduce changes to the legal and regulatory framework by 2005. The main aim of the proposals is to help encourage community enterprise and the financial inclusion of everyone in the community.
NICVA’s briefing paper outlines the key features of the proposed new policy proposals.
