Link Awards presented by EastEnders' Barry in recognition of charity - business partnerships.
Musgrave SuperValu-Centra has taken the glittering Link trophy at this year’s Link Awards for supporting Action Cancer.
EastEnders' star Shaun Williamson (Barry Evans), presented the crystal trophy at a special gala dinner at the Ramada Hotel, where 450 people from businesses and charities enjoyed dinner and entertainment in celebration of the seventeenth Awards. The event recognises the exemplary achievements of business and charity partnerships.
Action Cancer nominated Musgrave SuperValu-Centra for their unique assistance in the three year marketing campaign, Driving Home Early Detection, as well as for their support of the Mobile Detection Unit which targets areas with a poor response to cancer screening appointments. Musgrave SuperValu-Centra pays all the substantial costs associated with the service including the use of its PR agency and network of stores to promote the service.
Action Cancer also nominated the runner up in the Large Company Employee category, Botanic Inns, but the section was won by Tesco NI who were nominated by the relatively small charity, Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
This year's Awards prove that you don’t have to be a large well-known charity or big business to win. Cystis Fibrosis Trust has one full time employee which serves 500 families in NI, while small clothing shop Gooch won the Southern Region Award for donating £1 to Aids 2000 each time they sold an item of clothing.
