A children dies every three seconds as a result of extreme poverty. The Make Poverty History campaign is a unique alliance of over 300 civil society organisations mobilising to create global change and make poverty history.
Three campaign demands are being made to world leaders.
Drop the Debt
Trade Justice
More and Better Aid
The campaign is mobilised around key opportunities in 2005:
- the G8 summit in Edinburgh
- the UK government becoming President of the EU in July
- discussions on the implementation of the UN Millennium Development Goals
- the meeting of the World Trade Organisation.

- Join the Make Poverty History campaign at www.bond.org.uk
- Set up a Make Poverty History group. A toolkit to help you do this will be available soon.
- Send a campaign postcard to Tony Blair. Make your own postcard using the template below or contact lisa.mcelherron@nicva.org to receive a hard copy. Or email the Prime Minister from the Make Poverty History website.
- Wear the white Make Poverty History arm band.
- Ask your MP to sign the Make Poverty History early day motion.
- Attend the main mobilisation on 2 July in Edinburgh.
