Kenneth Branagh recently threw his support behind the great work being done for Northern Ireland charities by employers, schools, colleges, clubs and societies. Kenneth also announced an extension to the deadline for the NICVA Link Awards 2008 in association with BT, now celebrating their 21st birthday.

The world-famous actor and director is President of the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA). On a visit to Belfast to promote his new film Sleuth Kenneth announced an extension to the deadline for the NICVA Link Awards 2008 in association with BT, now celebrating their 21st birthday.
"Voluntary and community organisations carry out a crucial role in creating a better society, especially in Northern Ireland, where they have contributed greatly to building peace
"This work needs support from the private sector and from society generally. The NICVA Link Awards celebrate the wonderful efforts already being made, but they also encourage us to do more and to do it better."
Extended deadline
Mr Branagh continued:
"I know entries for the 2008 awards were supposed to close today but I’ve asked NICVA to extend the deadline until Monday – so get moving and make sure your good work for charity is recognised.
"And lots of people deserve a treat, so don’t forget to buy your tickets for the gala dinner on 7 February – sorry I can’t go myself."

Unfortunaltely the closing date for Link Award applications has passed.
