NICVA's governance review programme that began at the start of the summer has proved popular with organisations that want to examine their governance structures. The governance reviews are available to small to medium sized organisations (defined as those with an income of under £500,000).
Reviews consider areas such as:
- policies and procedures of the management committee,
- understanding of and compliance with governing documents and legislation,
- the procedures required for staff appointment and management of key staff,
- basic financial procedures, and
- the status of your strategic and operational planning.
NICVA dedicates seven days to each review which includes an in depth assessment of the governance of your organisation, the preparation of a report, training and one to one advice and evaluation. These will not be consecutive and may be spread over a number of weeks.
The provision of this service is dependent on eligibility and demand.
Why not take 10 minutes out of your time to test your organisation’s governance?
NICVA developed an online Good Governance Test which is designed to give the management committee/board and staff members of voluntary and community organisations a sense of how well an organisation is governed.
This simple tool can be used to encourage dialogue and self evaluation within an organisation.
It can be used as a test to see if your organisation would benefit from a NICVA governance review.
