An update on forthcoming policy fora facilitated by NICVA.

NICVA facilitates a range of themed policy groups specially designed to help people understand and engage with policy issues that are relevant to their organisation. Included below are the details of some upcoming policy meetings.

When and where?

Chaired by policy experts in each subject, the fora aim to meet 3-4 times a year in NICVA and venues across the country. Membership is open to any organisation or individual with an interest in these topics. You don't need to be a policy "expert" to attend!

Women's policy forum

The guest speaker at the next women's policy forum on Tuesday 22 April at 10.30am in NICVA will be Eileen Sung. Eileen is Head of Gender and Sexual Orientation within the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister.

Environmental policy forum

The next environmental policy forum has been re-scheduled for Monday 28 April at 1.00pm with lunch at NICVA. The focus of the meeting will be on local marine issues, and will end at 3pm with a tour of the RSPB nature reserve at Belfast Lough.

Community relations policy forum

This is the first meeting of a new forum on Thursday 1 May at 2.30pm in NICVA.
Are you:

  • working for an organisation involved in community relations work?
  • interested in the development of community relations work in general?
  • seeking to engage more effectively with government on community relations policy?
  • looking for networking opportunities to share information and good practice within the community relations field?

NICVA is aiming to provide a supportive policy context for voluntary and community organisations interested in community relations through the development of this forum.

Older peoples' policy forum

There have been a number of recent policy developments relevant to older people. The next meeting of the forum on Tuesday 6 May at 10.30am in NICVA will discuss the impact of the draft proposals for health reform on older people.

Men's policy forum

After an introductory meeting in March, the next full meeting of the men's policy forum is on Wednesday 7 May at 2.30pm in NICVA. The focus will be on developing a response to the draft proposals for health reform.

Local and global poverty policy forum

The second meeting of this forum will take place on Tuesday 20 May at 10.30am in NICVA. This forum aims to explore the similarities and difference between anti-poverty work here and in developing countries. This meeting will feature a local case study and an overview of local poverty issues.
