Recent Research
“Storytelling” Audit Report: An audit of personal story, narrative and testimony initiatives related to the conflict in and about Northern Ireland.
Healing Through Remembering is an extensive cross-community project made up of individual members holding different political perspectives. In March 2000 the All Truth is Bitter report was published. It recommended a wide ranging discussion to explore and debate ways of examining and remembering the past to build a better future. After much discussion in June 2001 a diverse group of individuals formally agreed to become the Healing Through Remembering Project Board. The board carried out extensive consultations on how people remember the events connected with the conflict in Northern Ireland and how individuals, communities and organisations contribute to the healing of the wounds.
The broad purpose of this audit is to “carry out research about storytelling relating to the conflict in and about Northern Ireland”. The scope of storytelling related to the conflict is potentially immense therefore a tighter focus was required, which nonetheless had to be sufficiently comprehensive for the extensive nature of the topic.
As a result of this audit, recommendations were made to the Storytelling sub-group on their ongoing work. A few recommendations include:
·The profile of the Storytelling sub-groups should be raised and its work to date should be more widely promoted.
·To inform and clarify the future work and direction of the sub-group, a workable definition of “storytelling” or another agreed term should be developed.
·Look at potential sources of funding, not only to support implementing storytelling projects, but also to document good practice and develop quality training programmes.

What is Community NI?
Community NI has been developed by the
Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) to promote the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. The website was officially launched in April 2005.
Publish your information
The principle behind the site is that every voluntary and community organisation will be signposted and have the opportunity to publish information, whether that be a
newsletter, press release, job advertisement or event. Community NI aims to be the first central online source of information about the voluntary and community sector in Northern Ireland. It gives voluntary and community organisations the chance to promote themselves on the internet and to share their resources and expertise.
