This month's round up
This month's NICVAnews throws down the challenge to think about sustainability, with our upcoming annual conference 'Building Tomorrow's World ...' setting out to debunk the myths on sustainability and entertain and inspire us to action. Continuing the environmental theme, we report this month on local groups that have taken up an eco-challenge to reduce their carbon footprint and Communitybuyer.org - our online directory of products and services for the sector - goes 'green' with ideas for more eco-friendly offices.
Company law
Important changes have come into force for charitable companies on proxy voting, written resolutions, directors' duties and connected persons - check page 7 to get up to speed.
Funding
On the funding front look out for the all new Turkington Fund which, thanks to a boost from NICVA, is able to allocate up to £60,000 each year in small grants for work with older people. Healthcare projects receive welcome news of a grants programme from DHSSPS and peace building initiatives should be interested in funding from the Joseph Rowntree Trust, while the Social Economy Agency is seeking to make an 'IMMPACT' on financial and organisational sustainability.
Win!
Coming up soon is a final opportunity to 'say it with Link' as it's the final year of our annual Charity Oscars in their current format. Don't miss out on the chance to be the overall winner or to scoop one of the seven category awards.
