This month's round up

Public sector efficiency means cuts for voluntary and community groups

This month brings unwelcome news of funding cuts for voluntary and community organisations that provide services for public sector organisations. It has emerged that one Health and Social Care Trust is passing on its efficiency saving in the form of a 3% cut to voluntary sector organisations that deliver frontline services. NICVA is closely monitoring this and similar stories. If you are faced with a funding shortfall due to a public sector efficiency drive please let us know.

Members' Day

On a happier note, April sees the return of our successful NICVA Members Day, this time round bringing you essential pointers for running an effective organisation. The day will include sessions on governance, human resources, communication and information.

Training calendar

The latest training calendar is also in full swing with workshops this month on charity law, recruitment and winning contracts.

Health consultation

Proposals for health and social care reform have been announced and comments are invited. NICVA has teamed up with the Community Development and Health Network to host a number of consultation events across the country this month.

Get to know the Assembly

As the Assembly is having an ever greater impact on our everyday lives, NICVA is encouraging voluntary and community organisations to engage more effectively with local representatives. From workshops on 'getting to know the Assembly' to the Lobbying and Policy Forum, we can help you get your issue on the political agenda.

My funny valentine

Finally, congratulations to Voluntary Arts Ireland which rhymed its way to a year's free subscription to Grant Tracker in our Valentine's Day competition. Read 'My Funny Valentine' on page 24.
