NICVA HR updates: new policies and the latest pay claim
NICVA has updated its paternity, retirement and maternity policies to reflect recent legislative changes. The advice note attached below is to provide a brief overview of what the changes are and to inform organisations of where further advice and guidance can be sought when researching the topics.
NICVA’s updated policies on retirement and paternity leave have now been published in the Staff handbook section of the website: http://www.nicva.org/publications/nicva-staff-handbook.
Pay Claim
The Trade Union side of the National Joint Council for Local Government Services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland submitted a pay claim for 2012/13 on 28 October 2011.
Organisations operating NJC payscales are working to the latest scales issues for 09/10 which can be accessed on NICVA's website at:
http://www.communityni.org/sites/files/communityni/Final-NJC-PAYSCALES%2009.pdf
The latest pay claim lodged with employers states that it 'is for a substantial increase on all pay points that recognises the financial hardship being suffered by NJC workers - in particular the lowest paid – as a consequence of inflation and the failure of the Local Government Employers to award £250 to those earning below £21,000, as embodied in Government policy'.
Further information on the new pay claim may be obtained from the Unison website at:
