Poverty, employment, housing, shared future and education prominent in NICVA response to the draft Programme for Government.

Commenting as the response was submitted NICVA Chief Executive Seamus McAleavey said “Voluntary and community organisations took this document very seriously. The issues raised in our consultation sessions go to right to the heart of the concerns, hopes and expectations of people living here. The size of the task ahead for the NI Executive cannot be under estimated and the voluntary and community sector is ready to work with government to play our part in creating better outcomes for people across Northern Ireland”

As well as offering comments on the aims and objectives contained in the PFG the responses shines a light on pressing social, environmental and economic issues raised by NICVA members from right across Northern Ireland.  They include:

  • The economy, skills and employment
  • Social enterprise
  • Poverty
  • Housing
  • Support for arts and culture
  • Creating a shared and better future
  • Crime
  • Community Safety
  • Youth Justice
  • Health
