NICVA Welcomes the Return of the Stormont Executive
Submitted by robbie.best@nic... on 5 February 2024 - 6:09pmNICVA welcomes the news we will now have a stable, functioning government here in Northern Ireland.
Our entire sector is ready, willing and able to get back to work alongside our politicians to deliver the best possible outcomes for communities all across Northern Ireland.
Chief Executive Celine McStravick said: “We have been saying for a long time we needed a return to stable government and a functioning Executive.
“It is great news to hear those calls have been heard and communities in Northern Ireland can finally get the government they voted for.
“Throughout the political impasse, NICVA were extremely concerned and extremely vocal about the impact the lack of a fully functioning, engaged and collaborative devolved government on people and communities across Northern Ireland.
“The Voluntary and Community sector, who we represent, advocate for and support, are at the front line of tackling our social, economic, and environmental problems and challenges.
“Those challenges were caused, and worsened, by the lack of long-term planning and budgeting – none of which is happening were possible because Stormont wasn’t up and running.
“However, these problems won’t be solved just because we have a government, far from it.
“Now is when the real work begins, we look forward to getting into the detail of the financial package agreed and making sure our sector is invested in now, and into the future”.
Now we have a new Executive, we've pulled together a guide to who's who.
