Newcastle Karate Club

Established in 1978 by Ken Lundy 3rd Dan, the Karate Union of Northern Ireland (KUNI) was one of the founder member associations of the Northern Ireland Karate Board (NIKB), the recognised governing body for Karate in Northern Ireland. The KUNI first opened Newcastle Karate Club (NKC) in the early 1980’s and it is currently based in the Newcastle Centre. The club currently has around 80 members and it holds separate adult and children’s classes, organised and run by a small committee which includes a mixture of technical karate coaches, parents and administrative support all of whom give up their time on a voluntary basis.
