Services
The Bureau offers advice on a range of issues including benefits, consumer, debt, legal problems, housing, health, tax, immigration, employment and fuel poverty.
In the Bureau we have a specialist Tribunal Advisor who can offer tribunal representation for benefit appeals. This service is in a very high demand so it is essential that if help is needed you contact us immediately so as we can check availability.
We also have a specialist Money Advice worker who can offer advice on bankruptcy, Individual Voluntary Arrangements, Debt Relief Orders and Debt Management Plans, helping clients to manage their debts and take control of their financial situation. To avail of the Money Advice Service please contact us on 02890 852271 or call to the bureau personally. The procedure is that you will be given a Benefit checklist and a Money Advice Debt pack to complete and return. Once the Money Advice Debt pack has been returned and a benefit check has been completed (to ensure your income is maximised) an appointment will be made with the Money Advice worker.
Fuel Poverty is an ever increasing problem.Within our Bureau we have a dedicated Fuel Poverty worker who actively researches all available heating and insulation schemes within the area to ensure that any clients whose heating can be improved are referred for this help.
We run 2 projects funded by the Public Health Agency, Advice 4Health1and Advice 4Health 2. Both projects cover East Antrim which includes Superoutput Areas of Larne Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey.
Advice4Health1 takes referrals from all Health professionals ie GPs, Social Worker and Community Psychiatric Nurses, clients who live in a Superoutput area can self refer. The A4H project worker goes to Abbey House in Whiteabbey Hospital on Wednesday 9.30-11.30. We are also in Gloucester Park Day Centre and the Royal British Legion on the second Wednesday of the month Tel: 02890867100.
Advice 4 Health 2 project targets those with Addictions in East Antrim and the referral should come from the relevant organisation who is helping the client. To facilitate this project we have an outreach in Carrickfergus Corner Stone. If you work for an organisation that helps clients with addictions Voluntary or Statutory and you would like to refer a client please contact 02890 867100.
