Community Leadership Programme

The Community Leadership Programme offers training and learning opportunities to help strengthen the leadership capacity of community groups.

Applications for year 3 of the Community Leadership Programme are now closed. 

Who's it for?

Applications for this project are welcome from community groups in Northern Ireland and the six border counties of the Republic of Ireland (Louth, Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Sligo and Donegal) that have the potential to gain from the Programme and have a commitment to local regeneration and development.

 

What do I get?

This is a one year leadership journey for groups, and by participating five members of your group and its committee will have the opportunity to:

  • Build management and leadership capacity in your group
  • Participate in ten action learning sessions with a dedicated facilitator
  • Achieve accreditation for individuals from your group at the Institute of Leadership and Management - Leadership level 3
  • Gain a certificate in Management Practice from the University of Ulster for two individuals from the group free of charge
  • Receive a bursary of up to £2,500 for an action learning project
  • Benefit from a free governance review, if one is required
  • Receive ongoing support from NICVA

Meet the funder

The Community Leadership Programme is funded by the International Fund for Ireland

The International Fund for Ireland is an international organisation established by the Irish and British Governments in 1986. The Fund’s main objectives are to promote economic and social advance and encourage contact, dialogue and reconciliation between unionists and nationalists throughout Ireland.

Contributors to the Fund are the United States of America, the European Union, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Since its inception, the Fund has committed more than £648m/€811m to a wide variety of projects in Northern Ireland and the southern border counties. Developing and funding initiatives that tackle segregation and promote integration to build a lasting peace in Northern Ireland and the southern border counties is a key priority for the Fund.
